FleetBoston Financial is to implement technology from NCR Corporation for the launch of a new Web-based automated teller machine network in early 2002.
Under the deal, the US bank will deploy NCR's Aptra Edge program which provides remote system management regardless of the original hardware or software manufacturer. The contract also includes management of the technology transition.
The browser-based software interface offers cash machine users enhanced functionality and a more personalised customer experience, says the company.
Nandita Bakhshi, executive vice president, Fleet self service/ATM banking group, says: "With Aptra Edge, we will initiate a technology transition that uniquely provides Fleet customers with additional products and services at the ATM that were not possible with older, legacy systems."
