Bank One is rolling out talking ATMs throughout its Michigan banking centres, as part of an initiative to voice-enable the bank's cash machines across several US states, including Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, Louisiana, Texas and Wisconsin.
A pilot programme was begun earlier this year, and by year-end the bank estimates it will have 130 talking ATMs in operation.
The machines provide visually impaired users with a set of plug-in stereo headphones to hear step-by-step instructions to securely conduct financial transactions.
Bank One claims to be the first bank in Michigan to introduce voice-enabled ATMs.
