There should be no doubt that AI will be central for improving also EU competitiveness. But there are many horror stories around that may hinder uptake.
Like AI knowing more about your inner self than you ever can - and will use this for commercial reasons and even against your interest (no use to try to pretend anything - or maybe you should ask AI who you really are...).
Even if GDPR should assign hefty fines for an AI-using organisation using your data without your consent, it may be difficult to prove anything. But GDPR is in any case a good base now when the EU trust infrastructure will provide the ID-wallets to control and distribute the needed verified data to citizens' and organisations' life events. Surely AI should by itself start using permissioned verified data and anonymous verified data always as the first choice.
We should now avoid panic and have proper discussions about how we can make AI more reliable, productive, secure and more ethical. My guess is that as all organisations in Europe and beyond will soon have the interoperable general purpose EUDI-ID organisationwallets in use - the next step will be to make sure that important devices will - for security, privacy and productivity reasons - have the same applications.
Should that not also go for critically important software - naturally containing power-to-act credentials issued from its manager's wallet and transaparently connected to beneficials owners?
