UK software house B2B ITS is claiming the highest performance of any commercially available FIX engine with the release of benchmark results for its Antenna V12 package indicating a capacity of 5000 messages per second when used in conjunction with entry-level SUN hardware.
The benchmark results show FIX Antenna V12 processes and logs 5000 messages per second whilst simultaneously maintaining up to 50 sessions and 4000 messages per second with 200 sessions when running on a SunFire 280R with only 2 CPUs.
Robert Woodmansey, chief executive of B2B ITS, says: "Our hardware/software offering with SUN...delivers the best value on the market from a price to performance ratio."
The tests were conducted on three SunFire 280R machines to simulate a buy side connection directly to a sell side and via a third party or routing network. The servers were configured with 2 x 750 MHz CPU and 4GB memory. Solaris 8 revision 10/01 was installed with the recommended patch cluster. The server had two 36GB of local storage.
The results have been welcomed by Kevin Houstoun, director, electronic trading and external connectivity, Schroder Salomon Smith Barney, and a high-ranking FIX committee luminary. "The approach adopted by B2B ITS in driving down the overall cost of adoption and making institutional performance available to all is to be welcomed," he says.
