The companies say they will work together to connect the webMethods integration platform with Appia, Javelin's electronic trading infrastructure.

Javelin's FIX engine connects asset managers and broker dealers, providing a common protocol for trading securities between buy-side, sell-side, exchange and ECN market participants. WebMethods is building integration to Javelin's FIX technology, allowing information about the trades conducted through the FIX engine to populate other applications throughout the organisation.

Darren Oberst, general manager of webMethods' financial business unit, says: "By creating a module to connect Appia directly with the webMethods integration platform, we will provide financial customers with a seamless solution for incorporating STP as part of an overall integrated infrastructure."

Under the agreement, webMethods and Javelin will work together on joint sales and marketing initiatives.
