Appia will initially be rolled out across BGI's European and North American operations. Previously, BGI had been running Javelin's Coppelia FIX engine at its London headquarters.

Paul Stevens, global head of technology for BGI, says: "As the industry moves toward straight-through processing and shorter settlement cycles, it is crucial that we implement solutions that can easily integrate within our global infrastructure."

The enterprise wide solution is capable of maintaining BGI's global trading operations at all times through automatic fail-over, says the company. Appia's HA (High Availability) module eliminates the need for server replication and disk mirroring.
