The NCR ATMs will offer easier access to people with disabilities as well as improved security and privacy and new transaction features, says the bank.

The replacement project has already begun, with the first 600 machines being installed at more than 300 sites across Canada.

Christina Kramer, EVP, distribution services, CIBC Retail Markets says the new ATMs "will be easier to use and will provide even greater functionality for our clients. Enabled with the latest technology and accessibility features, they are also more energy-efficient."

The move comes just 18 months after CIBC completed a multi-year C$90 million upgrade of its ATM network.
