The Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC) has completed a multi-year C$90 million upgrade of its national network of 3800 ATMs.
The bank says its ATMs now offer easier access to people with disabilities as well as improved security and new transaction features.
At least one ATM in every branch is now at an accesible height for wheelchair users, has grab bars and includes headphone jacks for audio access. CIBC says it now has 1129 of these 'access for all' ATMs, compared to 610 in 2004.
Other aspects of the upgrade include improved security to prevent card skimming and deposit calculators.
CIBC recently renewed a deal with 7-Eleven to operate almost 500 ATMs in shops across Canada.
