Bank of America has appointed FBI official Donna Bucella to the position of business continuity executive.
Bucella currently currently heads the FBI's US Terrorist Screening Centre, which is part of the Department of Homeland Security.
Prior to her current position, Bucella served in the Department of Homeland Security as director of the Southeast Area, Aviation Operation in the Transportation Security Administration, responsible for the oversight and support of security operations at 80 airports.
Bank of America says Bucella will take up her new role in mid-October.
In her new role, Bucella will lead all aspects of Bank of America's business continuity planning coordination and recovery efforts, both domestically and internationally.
She will be responsible for establishing plans, policies, guidelines and practices in support of line of business and corporate preparedness and event management.
Bucella will report directly to Doug Smith Bank of America's corporate information security and business continuity executive.
The appointment is the bank's second hiring of a senior FBI offical by the bank. In May Bank of America hired Chris Swecker - assistant director of the criminal investigative division and acting executive assistant director for law enforcement services at the FBI - to lead its corporate security organisation.
