A UK police force is launching an ATM advertising campaign warning of the dangers of binge drinking, which will run during this summer's World Cup football tournament.
Leicestershire Police is using the ATM:ad advertising system - which was developed by UK multimedia agency i-design - to deliver the anti-binge drinking campaign, which will run from May 26th to June 22nd.
The warning messages will appear on ATMs in high streets, shopping malls and at petrol stations throughout the county. The campaign is expected to deliver 480,000 impacts and 120,000 one-to-one transactions.
Superintendent Ken Kelly, Leicestershire Constabulary's lead for violent crime, says: "The ATM advertising is aimed at making people think twice about getting drunk and the consequences it can have to themselves and to other people.
"During the World Cup there will be a large number of people out and about enjoying themselves. By placing these adverts on cash machines and the receipts that come from these, we are communicating with people before they get drunk and hope that they will take our messages on board."
A similar ATM:ad campaign was run by Essex Police at Christmas.
