The Linux-based ITS.Netrix multimedia device was developed in conjunction with Kinneir Dufort Design and enables traders to manage all communications, including voice, video, instant messaging, e-mail and Internet, through a single console.

The bank will roll out the system across its money markets, foreign exchange and fixed income desks. The technology provides connectivity to IP (Internet Protocol) or traditional voice networks and allows users to identify callers, as well as the status of the call.

The chief dealer at China Merchant Bank says BT Syntegra's technology will future-proof critical trading activity and help traders and sales teams interact more effectively with customers, colleagues and trading partners, helping to deliver improved service to clients as well as significant productivity gains.

The system will be driven by release 16 of BT Syntegra's ITS operating and administrative software. In addition, the vendor will be installing two ITS p31 telephony switches, a PABX from Nortel and a voice recorder from NICE at the bank.

China Merchant Bank is expected to go live with ITS.Netrix in November 2004.
