Bansefi, a government-backed Mexican retail bank, has selected Temenos' CoreBanking and T24 banking platforms along with IBM's business consulting services to support its expanding retail banking operations.

Bansefi currently operates from 570 branches with the mandate to support more than 300 savings and loans credit unions and co-operatives. The bank aims to introduce multi-channel retail banking services to low income sectors and Mexico's unbanked population and has set a target of over 20 million customers and three thousand branch offices within the next four years.

The IBM/Temenos combination was selected from a shortlist of 12 vendor bids.

Javier Gavito, general manager, Bansefi, says: "Temenos CoreBanking and Temenos T24 together with business consulting services will provide us with a high-level technology solution to support our business needs and model in an efficient manner."
