• What was the original vision for Mobey Forum, and how has it evolved over time?

 Driving paradigm shifts: 

1. E-banking – the fundamental paradigm shift – started for our part in 1982
2. New ways of interconnecting customers   – not only with payments, trade finance, treasury and capital markets services – but also with e-identification, e-signatures, e-invoicing and e-salary was the next good-for-society-at-large paradigm shift. 
3. Taking all traditional banking services and especially the ambition to take the new interconnecting customers to always- there mobiles was the third paradigm shift.
4. Now – when all corporate and private customers (and their AI-agents) will be able to exchange verified data with EUDI-interoperable wallets  - the next paradigm change for banking -  will happen.
5. Verifiable data from ID-wallets to safely employ and empower wallet-carrying AI-agents will be the next paradigm shift.  

• What role do you think Mobey plays in shaping the (future of) financial services?

Very clear: 

1. Make sure that banks see to it that all their customers will get the data the need for their business and life events to interoperable identity building wallets.
2. Make sure that banks can lower risks and costs by helping customers to supply the needed data with their wallets.
3. Make banks central in the creation of a global Trust Infrastructure (together with Trust over IP,  EU and the Open Wallet Foundation)

• If you were to explain Mobey’s relevance today to a new banking innovator, what would you say?

The all-important action is to join the wallet-work for customer value, automation and risk management 3.0 and now also making it safe and easy to use verifiable data for employing organisational and private ID-wallet carrying AI-agents (the LLM-initiated fifth paradigm shift). Be ready for the dynamic ID-wallet&AI-agent duo..

Ladies and gentlemen,

It is an absolute privilege to stand before you today to celebrate Mobey Forum's  anniversary — quarter of a century, a milestone that is not just a reflection of time, but of impact, vision, and the relentless pursuit of innovation.

As we were founding Mobey Forum, we saw the future before most. Mobile phones were becoming part of everyday life, and we—Nordea, Nokia, and Visa—were pioneering mobile banking, proximity payments, and digital identity services. With the Internet arriving on phones, we recognized both the opportunity and the challenge: would financial services be trapped in walled gardens, or could we drive an open, global, standardized approach?

For that reason, we founded Mobey Forum. We had 1 vision that was simple yet transformative: a world where citizens could choose any phone, any bank, and any mobile operator, with the freedom to switch seamlessly. We were not alone in this ambition—5 of our current members, Nordea, UBS, HSBC, Visa, and Bank of Ireland were among the original founders, soon joined by a growing community of forward-thinking banks, technology firms, and industry leaders.

While some of our early ideas were ahead of their time, Mobey Forum endured and evolved, becoming a trusted platform for collaboration, insight, and influence. From our origins in mobile payments, we expanded our scope to digital finance more broadly—always looking beyond the horizon, anticipating the next disruption before it arrives.

More than 2 decades later, as we enter the identity-building wallet age, Mobey Forum remains true to its purpose: to empower financial institutions to understand, navigate, and shape the future of digital finance. Our mission has never been about chasing trends; it has been about defining them.

To all of you who have contributed to this journey—our members, partners, and thought leaders—thank you. The future will bring new challenges and opportunities, but if history has taught us anything, it is that Mobey Forum will continue to lead the way.
