California-based Kx Systems says the software will improve the quantitative modelling capabilities of Fidelity's portfolio trading business. The application simultaneously captures and analyses streaming equities data from multiple sources, while archiving information for historical analysis.

Historic and real-time data is available in a single location and can be extracted for use in trading simulations, to refine existing models or to back-test new strategies.

Craig Messinger, president, Fidelity Capital Markets, says: "The integration of the new kdb/tick application will help us more efficiently trade the easier orders, while allowing our traders to focus on the orders where their trading judgment can add the most value."
