Logica is joining forces with Oasis Technology to supply, implement and support an electronic payments network solution for the Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency (Sama).
Logica will provide consultancy services in electronic bill payment and presentment (EBPP), smart cards, e-commerce and m-commerce.
The network will support the widespread implementation of electronic banking services across the country to create a secure infrastructure for the anticipated growth in card transactions.
A spokesman for Sama comments: "Part of Sama's strategy in deploying a new payments network is to support new types of transactions via mobile phones and the Internet in a secure and high-performance environment."
Logica says the network will handle up to 1000 banking transactions per second, supporting ATMs and point-of-sale terminals. The company says it will be the most advanced payments control system in the Middle East region.
The network will be implemented over four phases within the next 12-18 months.
