Fujitsu and Kal are teaming up to develop an ATM solution based on the IFX (Interactive Financial eXchange Forum) protocol.
IFX is an open standard being developed by a consortium of banking and information systems companies for communication between ATMs and ATM switches. It is based on XML technology and simple object access protocol (SOAP) transport.
Fujitsu is the first Japanese ATM manufacturer to join the forum. Its 8000 Series ATM will be used as the hardware platform and the company will develop a switch server solution based on its XML technology.
UK-based Kal will design an OEM application for IFX based on its flagship ATM solution Kalignite.
The companies say the solution is expected to lead to an ATM architecture that easily allows the addition of new services.
