American Express launches receipt capture app

Editorial

This content has been selected, created and edited by the Finextra editorial team based upon its relevance and interest to our community.

Created exclusively for American Express Open business card members, ReceiptMatch can be used by company employees to capture images of receipts on the go and add a note to the transaction.

The captured images are automatically matched to the corresponding transaction on account statements.

"No more scribbling notes and trying to figure out which receipt is for which transaction on your statement at the end of the month," AmEx declares on the app download page.

This seems to be restricted to Corporate cardholders based in the US. It's certainly not available to download from Google Play in the UK.

Cant find it on Play either. Regardless seems very basic if its just capture and tag.

Been using Scanthing on Play to scan reciepts. Great thing is that it does OCR (optical character recognition) meaning I can search for receiepts on the Google Toolbar on my phone by kewords.

Not sure what this gives me over that.
