Using its Card Sync technology, AmEx will let customers connect their accounts with Xbox Live. This means that when they reach specified Halo 4 in-game achievements, they will unlock special offers and experiences.

The deal is running in the US and UK, with players eligible for offers at Best Buy and Currys PC World respectively. Users can also receive statement credits worth $25 or £25 and the chance to win a trip to the E3 game event next year.

Leslie Berland, SVP, digital partnerships and development, AmEx, says the X-Box partnersip, brings "a new level of value and engagement for cardmembers that is meaningful to our merchant partners and a significant development in interactive entertainment".

Customers can also access AmEx on the Xbox 360 dashboard and, once synced, load couponless offers directly to their cards from US merchants like AMC Theatres and PacSun; and UK outfits such as Cineworld Cinemas, Dixons Travel and Topman.

This is the first time AmEx has connected merchants and cardmembers via its Sync platform in the interactive entertainment and gaming arena and, says Berland: "The development provides merchants a platform for reaching a highly engaged and savvy audience with relevant offers and experiences".
