The programme has been created in order to help banks meet the October 2002 milestone, by which time all financial institutions must be able to meet the EMV migration mandate and have the ability to embrace smart card technology.

Under the programme, Nomad will provide the software components the banks need to carry out each element of the process to upgrade their existing legacy systems. Nomad is offering the introduction of EMV acquiring, authorisation and processing, as well as professional services and project management of the migration.

Nomad is offering a number of special discounts for Visa members, which include:
* the first 5 Visa members taking advantage of the programme will receive 70% discounts on software license upgrades from Nomad. The next 10 will receive 40% discounts;
* for members who feel the upgrade to EMV would be an appropriate time to migrate core acquiring, authorisation and processing to the next generation of software and hardware, Nomad will offer special deferred pricing arrangements to up to 25 Visa members; and
* specially customised professional service packs are also available at a consolidated and discounted rate from Nomad.
