US-based payments organisation UniCache has teamed up with Hypercom to allow consumers to conduct fast, convenient and anonymous electronic payments with Internet retailers and bricks and mortar companies using Hypercom's epic ICE card payment terminals.
With UniCache's encrypted, real-time escrow-like payment system, online shoppers can secure a UniCache account through a hyperlink on their favourite Internet sites.
The account needs to be initially funded by a credit card or electronic cheque. Shoppers can then purchase products, content or digital downloads on any Web site supporting UniCache payments.
Consumers manage their accounts online, checking balances, viewing transaction history and adding funds as desired. They can even track delivery of products being shipped.
In addition, consumers receive a pre-funded UniCache stored value UniCard. These can be used at any bricks and mortar company equipped with Hypercom's ICE touch screen-based card payment terminals or any Internet site using the UniCache system. The UniCard can also be used at any ATM machine using the Star, Plus or Interlink network.
The only identification provided when using a UniCache online account or UniCard is a 16-digit account number.
Jairo Gonzalez, president, Hypercom Transaction Systems Group, comments: "UniCache's system is a very viable payment approach that enhances consumer privacy and virtually eliminates merchant charge backs and the risk of identity theft."
