Through the apps, customers can access their current available account balances, transaction history and credit card payment information as well as transfer funds and pay bills.

In addition, the apps are integrated with each smartphone's built in GPS feature so customers can search for the nearest ATM or Wells Fargo branch with the touch of a button.

Meanwhile, the firm has begun enrolling people to its text banking service - which is open to all customers, including those yet to sign up for online banking - at ATMs.

After confirming their mobile phone number or entering a new one on the ATM keypad, customers will receive a "welcome" text message with instructions on how to use the service.

Arah Erickson, head, retail mobile banking, Wells Fargo, says: "Our goal is to make it even more convenient for customers to access their account information - anytime, anywhere - helping them save time and providing peace-of-mind. Wells Fargo Mobile Banking makes it fast, easy, and secure for customers to stay in touch with their finances."
