Bank of America glitch locks out e-banking customers

Bank of America customers were unable to access online accounts for much of yesterday after the bank's Internet service was hit by a systems glitch.

The site suffered sporadic service outages from around 5.00am US eastern time for about five hours.

A spokeswoman for the bank told reporters that some customers were unable to access their account information but the actual data was unaffected by the problem.

The site is now up and running but the bank has not revealed the cause of the outage or how many of its 25 million online banking customers were affected by the glitch.
