UK bank Halifax has begun rolling out multi-currency ATMs that dispense euro and US dollar bank notes in addition to sterling.
The cash machines, which are supplied by foreign exhange operator Travelex, dispense euro and dollar banknotes in denominations of 20.
The first unit has been installed at Halifax's Old Broad Street branch in the City of London, with several more planned at sites across the country later this year.
Nigel Turkington, head of travel money, Halifax, says: "Our customers have told us that the immediate availability of foreign currency would be a valuable addition to the wide range of services we already offer, and we plan to roll out more of these multi-currency ATMs in the near future."
Supermarket chain Tesco recently extended a trial of euro-dispensing cash machines following a successful pilot at airports and international rail terminals.
