Tesco says a six-month trial of four "euro ATMs", which were located near airports and international rail terminals, has been so successful that the decision has been made to extend the trial to 20 units in time for the summer holidays.

The euro ATMs are free to use and located close to transport hubs across the UK.

Stewart Gow, head of ATMs, Tesco Personal Finance, says: "We want to make travel money accessible, for our customers. They can pick up their euros at a competitive exchange rate at no charge whilst they do their weekly shop which is convenient. It's an easy way for customers to get their holiday money."

Royal Bank of Scotland is understood to be investigating the installation of similar euro cash machines at an undisclosed number of locations.
