Barclays Bank has appointed Gilles Lafue from First Data as senior technology officer for Barclaycard, the UK's largest credit card issuer.
Reporting to Don Trotta, Barclays chief information officer, Lafue will be responsible for overseeing the execution of IT strategy and delivery within Barclaycard.
At First Data, Lafue had the title of senior vice president, IT operations and infrastructure. Prior to this, he worked in senior IT delivery roles at AXA, GE Capital and Accenture.
First Data won a significant contract with Barclaycard in September to provide credit card and loans processing in the UK on its VisionPlus processing platform.
