First Data says the agreement will cover debit, credit card, ATM and loans processing, application and customer management, call centre services and printing and card personalisation. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The contract underscores First Data's bid to expand its presence throughout Southeastern Europe. The company acquired Delta Singular Outsourcing Services, a payment processing services provider for Greece, the Middle East and Balkans in June 2004.

Says George Drimiotis, MD, First Data in Greece: "This is a significant contract for First Data International."
