Under the deal, O2 customers with GPRS, 3G and WLAN connections will be able to access KTS' MarketTerminal service, which provides data from 15 exchanges, including the LSE, Nyse, Nasdaq, Euronext, Deutsche Boerse and the Scandinavian exchanges.

Mark Imrie, head of products, O2, says: "This new service fits perfectly with our strategy to strengthen our position as the leading provider of business services via mobile data connectivity."

Marc Pinter-Krainer, chief executive of KTS, told reporters the two companies have signed a revenue-sharing agreement for subscription income from the mobile data service.

KTS shares soared on news of the tie-up with O2, rising 17.30% in morning trading to 6.75 pence.
