Japan's Mitsui & Co has implemented voice trading technology from BT at its commodities trading and risk management division in Tokyo.
The platform is based on BT's ITS Release 15 software, which allows for remote configuration, administration, monitoring and diagnostics.
The system consists of two ITS p31 telephony switches - which doubles Mitsui's potential line and turret capability on the trading floor - as well as BT's IP ready pV405Hi turrets and ITS pVs4i and pVs8i speakers. Capable of supporting up to 64 users, it will initially be used by 33 commodities traders.
Minoru Ikeda, general manager, commodity trading and risk management, Mitsui & Co, says: "BT has provided us with the opportunity to double the size of our trading floor, without the need to upgrade our voice trading technology further."
BT says the new equipment needs little additional space, making it ideal for smaller trading floors and satellite offices.
The new platform replaces the company's Type 27 System which was also supplied by BT.
