Under the agreement, Northern Trust will deploy Globalfs, the software component of the Getronics' Microsoft-based 3D for Retail Banking package.

As well as improving branch operational efficiencies, the deployment will also enable implementation of cheque truncation and image capture at the point of presentment to reduce float and reduce the costs of processing paper cheques.

Northern Trust plans to roll out the Globalfs teller application in the second half of 2005. Getronics will also provide systems integration, project management, and ongoing support to the bank.
