Snippets from payments report - Finland

Some figures - please compare notes from your countries

- 90% of the population use Internet (but only 57% in the 65+ age cathegory

- 81% do the bill payments in e-banks (98% in the 20-39y), 8% direct debit (which is merging into e-invoicing), 4% by sending paper invoices to banks for payment (18% of the 65+), 2% in branches and 2% still use payment ATMs (on their way out - too slowly for my taste..)

- using the mobile phone for bill payment doubled in 2012 but is not yet much used (3,2%) - the press "a" for approving invoice payment propositions is new - but will surely lead to continuing doubling..

- 33% get e-invoices to their e-bank - good level despite transparent charging for paper invoices still being rather limited (consumer ombudsmen doing their best to hide costs consumers pay anyway). The figure for b2b is estimated to over 50% and growing fast as also the state sector is now returning paper and PDFs.

Some way to go - but every step saves costs and increase transparency. And do we need it..
