Feargal O'Sullivan, managing director of high performance messaging at Nyse Technologies shows off the pre-release Nehalem-EX Processor running a Nyse trading simulation at the Intel Developers Forum 2009.
In the demo, O'Sullivan describes how Nyse simplified the hardware from many servers and interconnects to a single 4-CPU Platform based on the eight-core Nehalem-EX processor.
Ultimately, says Feargal, "we are expecting to be able to collapse all of North American options and equities on one server to feed into an algorithmic engine which will potentially have upwards of eight cores available to it, and then to the gateway for trading solutions and all with a latency range in the 50 to 100 microseconds maximum, if not less."
