‘Breaking into Fintech’ is a series that asks experts for tips to help job seekers join the industry. For this installment, we spoke to Sarah Lee, vice president of people and culture at Crowdcube, for insights around how to get hired in fintech. Who knows,
after reading this you might find yourself paddleboarding alongside fellow ‘Cubers’.
Crowdcube is an investment crowdfunding platform. The company was built on the goal of making equity investment accessible and supporting investors in following their ambitions.

While each employee receives a benefits package, Lee explains that Crowdcube offers different benefits for various roles, all of which are listed under each position advertised. All employees receive maternity and paternity leave.
Lee adds that a perk of working at Crowdcube is the sociable workplace, which includes regular bonding events such as paddleboarding and boarding.
Crowdcube has a flexible working model, allowing ‘Cubers’ to opt to work remotely or in-person to suit their personal needs.
Tell us a ‘Cuber’ success story.
“Our chief product officer, Amy Carmichael, joined the team at Crowdcube as a senior product manager. As there was no head of product at the time, she knew that there was a possibility she would be able to quickly rise up the ranks. Our CEO, Darren Westlake,
saw her vision, and promoted her to the role of VP of product. Not long after, Amy was asked to join senior management as CPO, where she has established herself as a leader and has hired eight new people for her team in the last year alone.”
