The bank is to implement AutoDeal Lite as the basis for a new online foreign exchange and money market dealing system 'Click 'n Deal'.

Fortis says it will use Click 'n Deal initially to service its corporate clients based in the Benelux and to connect sales centres in France, Italy, Portugal and Spain to its main dealing room in Brussels. This roll-out forms part of the bank's strategy to expand its customer base in southern Europe. If the implementation proves a success, Fortis will make the service available to customers in Asia and the Americas in the near future.

"We wanted to come to market as soon as possible while providing a solid and professional service to our customers and Cognotec was the best choice. Now we have become the first bank to offer online foreign exchange trading in the whole Benelux region", says Jos Dekeukeleire, director of sales for financial markets, Fortis Bank.
