Latvia's Hansabanka has issued the first Visa smart card in the Baltics using TietoEnator's Transmaster software.
TietoEnator says its Transmaster application, which provides complete support for EMV smart card issuing and acquiring, also processed the first chip card purchase in the Baltic states in September 2001.
The Finland-based firm was selected as one of Visa's Chip Migration Partners in Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa (CEMEA) in 2001.
