Described as Europe's largest smart payment card co-branding project, the BonusCard scheme confers loyalty points on debit/credit card users which may be stored on the card and spent at participating merchants. Garanti Bank has so far signed up 100 retailers and distributed almost two million of the EMV-compliant SchlumbergerSema cards to customers.

Mehmet Sezgin, general manager, Garanti Payment Systems, says: "Migration to EMV gives us a great opportunity to gain a real competitive advantage through new services, and SchlumbergerSema is the ideal partner to maximise that advantage by establishing a fast, smooth and secure track to market."
