NCR and Transaction Network Services partner for next-generation ATM services

NCR and Transaction Network Services (TNS) have forged an alliance to provide next generation transaction functions to customers at the automated teller machine (ATM).

The two companies will work together to enable customers to cash cheques and process money orders and wire transfers at the ATM.

Phillip Kasper, assistant vice president, NCR financial solutions division, says: "With our Convenience Connexions program, we are giving consumers new transactions of value to conduct at ATMs, as well as giving ATM owners a solution to increase their profitability and differentiate themselves to retail site owners."

Under the agreement, TNS will provide the network backbone through the use of TNS's nationwide, secure, IP transaction network, TNS Connect. During the transaction process, TNS Connect routes the information over its secure IP network to the appropriate partner in order to complete the transaction.

Larry Crompton, senior vice president and general manager of the TNS point-of-services division, comments: "We developed TNS Connect to provide a secure, efficient means of transporting data to meet the emerging requirements of the ATM industry."
