Thomson Financial and Advent Software combine product offering

Thomson Financial and Advent Software have entered an alliance to provide bundled decision and operational support solutions to the asset management marketplace.

Under the agreement, three Thomson brands - Vestek, First Call and AutEx - have been customised for Advent's investment management clients and integrated with Advent's My-Advent Internet-enabled business desktop application and the software firm's SmartClick technology.

The move extends Advent's front and mid-office solutions to include performance attribution, equity research and indication of interest functionality, say the companies.

Vestek has been integrated with MyAdvent to offer Advent clients portfolio analytics information, including daily performance data for user-specified indices and time periods. In addition, three new Vestek offerings have been developed exclusively for MyAdvent:
* Vestek Comparative Profile combines performance graphics and portfolio characteristics in a single page to help managers explain their investment philosophy to clients;
* Vestek Attribution Overview enables firms to communicate vital summary information about the sources of performance at the security and sector levels; and
* Vestek Performance Attribution allows investment managers to effectively review the sources of portfolio performance with clients, consultants and colleagues.

The MyAdvent edition of First Call Analyst is a Web-based investment research tool providing MyAdvent clients with integrated access to First Call real-time equity broker-sourced research reports; I/B/E/S analyst forecast estimates; Datastream historical pricing; First Call Webcast Events; and Carson institutional holdings data. First Call Analyst content can be exported to Microsoft Excel for additional analysis and for use in models, and to calculate customised consensus estimates based on the user's own criteria.

AutEx Interactive is a decision support tool and single source window for buy-side investment management firms to view global liquidity and real-time market intelligence. The tool also generates graphs commingling IOIs with ILX pricing information to indicate whether buy or sell-side pressure is affecting price.

Suresh Kavan, president of Thomson Financial's Investment Management Group, says: "By integrating select content and technology from Thomson with the MyAdvent portal, we are opening up Thomson Financial's services to a growing segment of the institutional marketplace."

Advent's client base primarily includes firms with less than $500 million in assets under management.
