Hypercom receives third EMV-compliant certification

Hypercom Corporation has won EMV level two accreditation for its ICE 5500 card payment terminal under tests conducted by Radio Frequency Investigation, Ltd (RFI), an EMVCo accredited laboratory based in the United Kingdom.

Hypercom received same level accreditation for two other point-of-sale retail terminals in October, 2001, marking the first time that any company has been awarded three EMVCo level 2 certifications.

EMVCo was formed in February 1999 by Europay International, MasterCard International and Visa International to ensure chip card and terminal interoperability.
