Wap-enabled mobile phone users connected to the Telstra MobileNet WebMode network will be able to locate the closest Visa-accepting ATM anywhere in Australia. This will include the ATMs installed specifically for the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games. To utilise the service, users enter a post code or select city and street information. The caller will then be provided with the location and details of the nearest cash machines.

As part of Visa's agreement with Telstra, the Shopping category on the telstra.com mobile portal will be branded 'Shop with Visa' during the Sydney 2000 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Telstra is keen to add more financial services to its Mobilenet information network. The Australian PTT cites research from Durlacher which indicates that mobile banking will be a key commercial driver for the m-commerce market.
