According to Sony Bank spokesman Osamu Honjo, the cause is still under investigation and the bank is unclear when the problem will be fixed.

The Internet bank was set up by Japanese electronics and entertainment giant Sony Corp., with Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corp. and US-based JP Morgan Chase & Co., and went live on June 11 2001.

Until the glitch is fixed, Sony Bank's 34,700 account holders will be able to withdraw up to 100,000 yen ($843) at Sumitomo Mitsui branches, says AP.
