SDC services the medium-sized banking sector in Denmark, which is experiencing booming demand for online financial services. With more than 100,000 active customers currently, SDC Udvikling expects an annual growth rate of 50 percent in this area.

Allan Christiansen, head of e-business development at SDC Udvikling, says: "Today, most banks offer Web-based banking solutions that handle ordinary financial transactions. We now face the challenge of integrating bank business services and systems in personalised solutions that allow individuals as well as companies to customise access to their bank over the Internet."

An SDC project group, together with banking board members, spent four months evaluating market offerings. The group shortlisted BEA and three other leading vendors and reviewed their products and services.

Christiansen believes the J2EE-based BEA platform will increase productivity and decrease time-to-market by enabling the re-use of software components already developed by SDC.
