In the latest example of a bank bidding to ditch the pinstripes in favour of hoodies, HSBC is apparently on the hunt for a major fintech-focussed office space in the heart of London's hipster scene, Shoreditch.

Citing sources, Bloomberg says that the 151-year old institution has hired real estate broker CBRE Group to help it find a 50,000 square feet site, with Shoreditch and Old Street among the target areas.

HSBC recently decided against moving its headquarters from London to Hong Kong and is now expanding beyond its Canary Wharf skyscraper.

East London has become the centre of the European fintech scene, prompting HSBC to follow Barclays in setting up shop in the area in a bid to stay close to potential startup partners and attract young talent.
