The Android Línea Abierta Basic app allows customers to make balance enquiries, view transactions, perform transfers between CaixaBank accounts and find ATMs and branches.

The tasks can be carried out in the normal way, by touch, or through voice commands when the user activates their phone's microphone.

CaixaBank says it plans to add further biometrics features such as using fingerprint identification for login.

Canada's Tangerine has also been piloting voice command tech, although the bank's CIO, Charaka Kithulegoda, recently admitted to Finextra that customers have a hard time using the right words.
