The Sydney installment of MasterCard's Masters of Code competition will focus on innovating for mobile commerce.

Sponsored and hosted by MasterCard and organised by AngelHack, developers will have access to the card scheme's APIs and other assets as they vie for a place in the grand Final in Silicon Valley in December.

Eddie Grobler, division president, MasterCard Australasia says: “Australia has a thriving culture of start-ups, especially in the financial and technology spaces, so it’s the ideal location to tap into some exciting new ideas.”

The Australian event takes place over two days in early February, followed by Hong and Singapore in March. Future locations include cities in Brazil, Canada, Israel, Turkey, and the UK and US.
