The bank has partnered with Ordina, UtrechtInc, TNO, the Economic Board Utrecht (EBU) and the Open Bank Project for the 48-hour hack-the-bank contest, with a focus on the development of new and alternative means of borrowing and financing.

Developers, programmers, entrepreneurs and students are invited to enter the competition, which runs from Friday, 4 July through Sunday, 6 July at the Utrecht Science Park.

Competing teams will be provided with public or simulated data and APIs with which to craft their ideas and will be supported by fintech industry experts in their endeavours.

A jury composed of financiers and technologists will judge the finished products with scores awarded for viability and innovation. Alongside the EUR5000 cash pruize, the winning team will also have the opportunity to utilise the UtrechtInc entrepreneurship programme to put their idea into practice.

Harrie Vollaard, innovation manager at Rabobank, says: "We will watch the teams in action and consequently gain inspiration for our own future projects."
