AIB is to outsource 170 technology roles following a review of its IT operations.
The state-owned bank called a meeting with 250 of its IT staff this morning to inform them of the plans.
The bank says that there will be no redundancies and all affected positions will be transferred to Eircom, Integrity and Wipro as part of a plan to outsource some IT functions.
The outsourcing project has been worked out by the bank under a scheme known as 'Project Orion'.
The news follows an announcement on Monday by Ireland's Department of Finance that it had appointed Goldman Sachs to advise on the sale of the bank, which was bailed out by the Irish government at the height of the financial crisis in a EUR21 billion firesale.
