A Russian man has pleaded not guilty in a US court to charges that he hacked into point-of-sale terminals and sold stolen card data on online forums.
Roman Valerevich Seleznev, aka 'Track2', appeared for arraignment in US federal court in Seattle, Washington after being transferred from Guam. He had been indicted back in 2011 but the indictment was only unsealed last month.
Seleznev faces 29 counts, accused of hacking into POS systems and installing malware to steal card data between October 2009 and February 2011, as well as operating several carding forums where crooks bought and sold stolen data.
At his arraignment he entered pleas of not guilty and now faces a trial slated to begin on 6 October.
The Russian national has also been charged in an indictment filed in the District of Nevada, alleging that he and 54 others were members of the 'Carder.su' organisation.
Assistant attorney general Leslie Caldwell from the Justice Department, says: "The alleged crimes in this case harmed thousands of US citizens, and thanks to our law enforcement partners throughout the world, we will have the opportunity to seek justice in a US courtroom."
