The IsCep cash withdrawal service, developed by local vendor SoftTech, lets users authenticate themselves and request a withdrawal using their phone. They then scan a QR code on an ATM monitor with the handset to complete the transaction.

IsBank says that by eliminating the need for customers to insert their card, enter their PIN and request the money, transactions can be cut to just 10 seconds, helping to reduce queues.

With no need for new hardware or tweaks for different ATM brands or models, SoftTech says that the new feature has already been rolled out to IsBank's 5000 machines.

The innovation is the second in quick succession from the bank designed to reduce customer dependence on cards. Last year it installed around 3400 Hitachi biometric finger vein scanners in ATMs and branches across the country, enabling customers to withdraw cash without their plastic.
