RBoS currently operates 1500 Cashline-branded ATM points across the UK on the Connex S/390 solution. eFunds’ professional services team is currently working with Royal Bank staff to migrate the entire network - including the 3400 NatWest ATMS - to Connex.

Harry Hay, head of self service operations, Royal Bank says: "By using eFunds Connex across the remainder of the network we will be able to free up other IT staff to work on projects which will deliver a greater level of service to our customers."

The newly created single network will be the seventh largest in the world and number two in Europe in terms of number of terminals. It is estimated that once the network is completed around 75 million transactions per month will be dealt with by the Connex system.

The eFunds team will remain with Royal Bank over the coming year to ensure the network remains responsive. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2001.
