The app, which comes pre-installed on Samsung Galaxy handsets, uses technology from Dutch company Layar and can be downloaded to iPhone and Android phones.

Layar combines GPS, camera, and compass to identify user locations and overlay information on screen, in real time.

The Barlays' app directs customers to Barclays Branches, ATM's and Barclaycard contactless retailers throughout the United Kingdom.
